NEWS FROM HONEYBUNS BAKERY
AUGUST 2011

Smart Cookie

We are always on a quest to make our products and branding fresh, fun and delicious. Our very sophisticated Almond & Lightly Salted Pistachio Cookie, which is more than a nod to the salty sweet nibbles found in Greece, has recently had a cake board update. The branding now includes our fun teapots, illustrated by our artist in residence Graham, in an eyecatching design. A truly innovative and utterly gorgeous tasting cookie!

Our cakeboards not only look attractive, but give us the space to tell our story and shout about what makes our cakes and cookies special and what makes Honeybuns a premium artisan brand. On some of our cake boards we feature charity causes and other altruistic companies, such as Dorset Charcoal, Samaritans and Local Food Network. On the Almond & Lightly Salted Pistachio Cookie we are featuring The Patchwork Theatre Company, a small but highly inventive theatre group based in Dorset, currently attending the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and soon to be touring in the South. Catch them if you can!

Lunch!

Please do come and visit the Honeybuns stand no. F609 at Lunch!, the award winning food-to-go show at Old Billingsgate from 29-30th September. Vicky and Lottie will be manning the stand, and as well as a very warm welcome we will have lots of samples for you to try. Don't miss it!

Feeling cheesy? Then come and visit us at the Sturminster Newton Cheese Festival on 10th and 11th September. You can have a go at 'Cheese Blind Date' or 'Sniff, Squeeze and Taste', or just come and say hello to Graham on the Honeybuns stand.

Our customers are extremely important to us, and from the end of September Em and Vicky will be out on the road in our Honeybuns truck to see what we need to keep our customers well served and happy for the future. It's inspiring for us to see just how wonderful independently owned cafes, espresso bars and restaurants are. If you can't make it to Lunch!, we would be more than delighted to come and visit you. Please email vicky@honeybuns.co.uk or call us on 01963 23597 to arrange a visit. Also if you have any other comments or news, we'd love to hear from you.

Busy Bees

We've had a busy time of it lately. Em is delighted to have been asked to write a Honeybuns recipe book. It's due to be launched next Easter, and both Em and Charlotte have been knee deep in recipe development and testing. The photographer, assistants, stylists and editor all descended on the farm for a week in August to style and shoot the photos for the book. And hence the build up to their visit saw us all being very busy bees, getting everything around the farm looking spick and span and gorgeous for the photoshoot. One of our favourite things we've done is adapting two old concrete water troughs, one into a 'bug, frog and newt' haven, and the other in to a 'Bee and Butterfly' paradise. Artist in residence Graham has done some beautiful signage for them, and for other BeeGreen spots around the farm, like the veggie and fruit patches and Peckingham Palace (home to our two bantams Posh and Pecks).

At the end of July we made a special trip to Honeypot House, the main charity that we support, in the New Forest for a picnic with the 12 children who were staying there. As well as meeting the amazing and dedicated Honeypot Team we also had great fun with the children. We took some BeeGreen seeds with us for the children to sow in one of the flower borders in the beautiful grounds, which hopefully should have grown by the next time they visit Honeypot House. Honeypot is a charity providing support for young carers from 5-12 years old, and it was truly lovely to see the children really enjoying themselves and being children, something that they don't get the chance to do in their day to day lives. All the children come and stay for a 5 day holiday and then get the chance to return to the house for a weekend visit each year until they are 12 years old.

Honeybuns Stockist of the Month

New to The Nibbler newsletter is our Honeybuns Stockist of the Month. This month we would like to let you know about Cafe in the Park. With a cafe in both the Aquadrome, (Rickmansworth) and Higginson Park (Marlow) a stones throw from the Thames, this wonderful family run business started 5 years ago with the ethos to buy local, cook fresh and select ingredients that have a low impact on the environment. They are committed members of The SRA (Sustainable Restaurant Association) and are passionate about stocking the best of everything, hence they have been stocking Honeybuns for a few years now. Everything, from the menu to the decor, is beautifully thought out and their dedicated and knowledgeable staff make everyone feel welcome.

If you would like to be featured as a Honeybuns Stockist of the Month in our Nibbler newsletter and in our consumer newsletter, The Bee, please email lottie@honeybuns.co.uk or call on 01963 23597.
